Today the club announced that after discussions with then management staff Wagstaff, Taylor, Fuller and Kerkar will have to look elsewhere for their football next season.
Fans won’t be surprised about the departure of the younger winger, he had a brief spell in the squad where he showed good form but was unable to keep his position in the starting eleven. He has been with the club since the 8 of age and has shown nothing but determination when playing for the club, this is the right move for him and I wish him best for the future.
Watching Fuller has been real pleasure for me, his touch and movement is first class and you can see why he was in the Premiership for many seasons. His performances have been erratic and his injury problems have affected him during the season, at a guess he is probably one of the top earners if not the highest and freeing up those wages for someone not so injury prone is a smart move from the manager.
Since joining us from Rangers the man who Mr Finch described as Champions League player has struggled to hold a regular starting position, has played some important parts for us this season though I’d recommend not putting him in the left back position! Can honestly say I don’t have an opinion on Kerkar, which probably says all you need to know.
The player I was really surprised to see leaving us is Matt Taylor. An instrumental part of the rear guard last season that saw us concede 36 goals which was the best of any team in the league, when he got his chance to show us what he is capable of I was impressed with his performances and he showed he can definitely do a job at this level. If I was one of the teams coming up this year I’d be taking a look at him. Could be a decision that we regret.
Each player needs to be thanked for their contribution this season, being footballer is tough at times but I’m certain each one will bounce back. All the best guys.
