Following the stalemate with Leeds United on Saturday, Charlton welcome basement side Bolton Wanderers to the Valley on Tuesday evening (19:45)

Charlton Live’s LEWIS CATT previews Tuesday’s game

Charlton will be looking to get back to winning ways when they welcome fellow strugglers Bolton Wanderers to The Valley on Tuesday evening. After a hard earned but fair point against Leeds on Saturday the Addicks must see this fixture as a must win with Neil Lennon’s men rooted to the bottom of the Championship.

Charlton had plenty of chances to win the game on Saturday with Ademola Lookman, Reza Ghoochannejhad and Ricardo Vaz Te all coming close to breaking the deadlock, only to be denied by the in form Marco Silvestri in the Leeds goal. Charlton defended ruthlessly themselves to stop  Leeds taking all three points in the final ten minutes, with the best bit of defending coming from Leeds striker Chris Wood who got in the way of an almost certain goal. Still honours even and despite Steve Evans’ ridiculous claim that’s the addicks were “annihilated”  both sides left with a FAIR point.

Team News:

Karel Fraeye will need to decide whether he feels Johnnie Jackson and Ricardo Vaz Te are fit enough to play a second game in three days after they both completed large stints on Saturday. If Vaz Te does miss out then Fraeye can call upon Simon Makienok who will be looking to make an impression after finding himself dropped to the bench after a poor run of form.

Patrick Bauer serves the second of his two match ban so Saturday’s man of the match Harry Lennon should continue alongside Alou Diarra in central defence. Should Fraeye choose to rest Jackson then El Hadji Ba is waiting in the wings to come in to central midfield alongside Jordan Cousins or Naby Sarr will come in at centre back and Diarra will press back in to centre mid.

Ahmed Kashi sadly looks as if he will not feature for the Addicks again this season. Igor Vetokele and Cristian Ceballos are also long term absentees although it is hoped that both should be available for selection come January now they are both doing light training .

Predicted XI:

Henderson, Solly, Diarra, Lennon, Holmes-Dennis, Gudmundsson, Cousins, Jackson, Lookman, Reza, Vaz Te.

The Visitors:

Bolton were beaten 1-0 by Hull City at the weekend and the result piled more misery on Neil Lennons side’s season. The Trotters are penniless; a whopping £172million in debt with players set to walk out of the club if they are not paid for the second month in a row. It is a sorry state of affais right now for Bolton and whatever club you support it is not nice to see a fellow club who are so close to their community in dire need.

Neil Lennon can welcome back striker Zac Clough although a starting berth may be too much for him as he has been out since September. Bolton can also call upon back Gary Madine who missed Saturdays game due to illness and Darren Pratley who returns from concussion. Josh Vela is also available but former Addicks trialist Shola Ameobi is a doubt.

Ex-Addick Dorian Dervite should feature for the Trotters but former Addicks fan favourite Lawrie Wilson isn’t expected to play any part.

Prediction:

I think we are due a dramatic Tuesday night win so I’m going to be silly here and call a 2-0 Charlton victory.
