A New Season

Well tonight see’s football back at the Valley for the first time since the trophy presentation back in May, up until the Olympics I was badly missing my Addicks fix, but what can we expect this evening?

Quite simply our priority must be the league the cups are just an added bonus, so for tonights fixture against Leyton Orient I am expecting a mix of development players and squad members to start the game tonight. I suspect Leyton Orient may play a strong side and look to get the scalp of a Championship scalp, something our younger players may not be used to yet, so it will be interesting to see how they cope.

Pre season has gone pretty well, apart from the Gillingham result, the win at Fulham was decent, when Fulham went 1-0 up so early in the game you wondered what was going to happen, but the team showed their grit and determination by sticking at it and came out in the 2nd half and had a go at Fulham, and a 2-1 win was a fine result, Jackson popped up with a decent goal and Yanns goal was very well taken and gave the keeper no chance. I like the look of Kerkar, he has something about him, against Fulham when he came on he was happy to have a go at defenders and has the skill to be a success at Championship level, I have not really seen enough of Lawrie Wilson to make a fair judgement yet, but Jordan Cook looks a very interesting signing to me, he’s young, but I look forward to seeing how he develops.

Charlton Live is back this weekend, with our normal Saturday show from 1pm on CAFC Player and then the Sunday night show returns at its usual time on, 7pm on Sunday evening. We have been auditioning potential new team members over the past few weeks and we expect some of them to join the Saturday show in the coming weeks (once we have told them of course).

So its heads down from now until May, as we follow Charlton’s progress, we value your opinions, so if you have something you want to say please email studio@charltonlive.co.uk and let us know. Have a good season everyone.
